    Yes, it is exactly that. You can pin message other BB users (like email) or use BB messenger with it.

    It's free as in it doesn't use text message charges, but you'll need a data plan of some sort (which of course costs) to use it. The individual messages are free once you shell out the money for your data.

    You can't even get a BB w/o a data plan with most carriers seeing how thats the primary purpose of them.

    That said just call your provider and they should know

    BB Messenger is just like IM only you don't use any of your text quota or phone minutes.
    I was texting so much I had to upgrade my text plan, and then I discovered this. Your PIN is like your phone number or email address, or IM name. IN case you don't know yours - just go to 'Options' and then 'Status' and you'll see it there.
