    Hi fellow BlackBerry users.

I just got a new BlackBerry Passport to use as my daily driver. I used Android till now. Samsung Note 10 is my device till now.I really wanted to make sure that reduce my dependence on Google and started looking for alternatives. Apple is no different that Google.

My options were BlackBerry and Windows Mobile. I've seen some YouTube videos that Passport is the best BlackBerry 10 OS device out there. I initially thought of z30 or Classic but finally landed on a Passport. Finally got it yesterday and trying to install some app from BBW.

If there are an tips or setting I need to tinker to make it better, please suggest.

PS: I came across an APP called DroidStore in BBW. It has apps lke Maps and Telegram. Is it safe to use this app?
I want to use Telegram and GMaps without installing Play Store. Is it possible? Please guide.

Stick to BlackBerry World or Yalp - which is a Google Play client.

    Specifically for Telegram, use:

    https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/telegr...-apk-download/

And for GMaps (you won't be able to sign in though):

    https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...-apk-download/

    Hey Conite,

Thanks for the links. Do I need to install any Google services framework or can I directly install apks in BB10?

I am not interested in Google login functionality but want to have these two apps installed.

Tried to download GMaps from apkmirror using native browser. Once I click on the downloaded apk, system prompts "unable to open the file". Any solution?

Edit the file properties with your file manager and add the apk file extension.

    Thanks conite!

Installed successfully, now having issues reading my location although location services are turned on and permission granted. I am able to search for places near me and maps are correctly displayed, however it does not read my location to start navigation.

Any additional turnarounds needed to get this thing working?

    Welcome to CrackBerry....

Using either the search features, or better using Google to search on CrackBerry for info... and limiting it to the last year can help you find info quicker than waiting on replies.

Apparently people on Verizon are having problems with GPS. BB10 uses older technology.
