Howdy to the forum. Gone from N900->N900 number 2->N9->Q10, so a hello to everyone from the UK.

Looking forward to getting a hardware keyboard back Sure I'll have a few questions along the way. I had a playbook for a year or so, so BB10 isn't new to me.

You mean BB10 is familiar to you! PBOS is not exactly BB10! But it is a good jumping point!

Have fun an do not hesitate to post your questions (keep in mind though that we get a lot of questions answered so yours may have been already!)

    Welcome fellow ex-N9r

I have also followed the same path, and I still have my N900 at home sitting in a box.

However I find the bb10 vkb so good that I don't feel the need to have a hardware keyboard again. (especially after the N9)

It is far more closed than Maemo/MeeGo. But it is an excellent OS.

I have a lot of issues with vkb's, especially the one on the n9. I find the accuracy just isn't good enough for me. Probably because on my old 900 I could type away at such a rate, without looking at the keys that I found the move to the n9 was a step back in typing speed. I spent a good hour in the o2 store at the weekend playing with the demo q10, and found the keyboard suited my big/scarred fingers/thumbs and I was able to type along fairly well.

Closed doesn't bother me really, I've reached that point in life where I just want my tech to 'work' and the problems I'm having with pr1.3 on my n9 have forced my hand somewhat... Hoping for a better email experience (the most important feature for me) with the q10.

Similar path :-) Neo Freerunner, N900, N9, Z10 to Q10... And now in Jolla schizophrenia.

Q10 is a great combo of N900 like HW keyboard and N9 UX. But email experience for me was better on N9 - BB10 does not allow client certificate to access our Zimbra, so it's not very enterprise grade OS ;-).

Hi Hugh ! I moved from N9 to Q10 in September and never looked back... I'm so happy with typing on a hardware keyboard again. The BB10 OS reminds me of the N9 experience, with the active frames and the swiping, but BB10 runs much smoother, the N9 did lag sometimes. The transitions on BB10 are smarter and better looking, the Hub is amazing, the browser is so damn fast,... It truly is an amazing OS and it will even get better after the next upgrade (next month probably). You will discover lots of great features for sure, just take your time.

I'll keep the N9 for one purpose only : the offline maps are a blessing when driving abroad during holidays.

I must confess a hesitated between Q10 and Jolla, back in September, but I'm glad I did choose the right device. Apparently the Jolla was launched a bit too soon in order to please all those fans waiting for the new device; it can't be used properly as a daily carrier yet, according to a Jolla owner, let alone for professional use.

I'm hooked on BB now and will stay hooked as long as possible.

Yep, Jolla is unfortunately far away from being my primary phone. And I already get used to the HW keyboard shortcuts - it's amazing! Actually the same way how I use my desktop ;-).
