I just got the 8130 and a media card, how do I save ringtones to my media card rather than to the BB hard drive?

Not trying to divert the line of thought on this thread, but it is related (I think). I have a 4gb media card for a new 8130. I have gone through the seemingly endless cycle of trying to format and getting the "formatting failed" message. I then formatted using my PC, put the card in and after about three tries, it formatted successfully....only to get the "need to format the media card" message when I reboot the phone the next morning, or connect it the the computer and use it as a mass storage device. I'm up to about five hours now trying to figure this out, so I will be extremely grateful to anyone who could give me the secret on:
    1. how to dual-use the media card for saving videos taken from the camera AND as a mass storage device
    2. how to avoid having to reformat continually
    3. making the media card a default storage area for ringtones, photos, etc.
