I'm 99.9% ready to make the leap to my first smartphone/blackberry. I was all set to go get a curve, till I saw this information on the storm. I was debating on holding off and getting the storm, as its only a few weeks out but my concern is that with it being a totally new technology for RIM, there might be quite a bit of bugs to work out. I have never been one to keep up to date and grab new phones the minute they hit the market, so Im not sure if this would be an issue or not. For a complete and total n00bie, should I just hold off and get the storm, or would a curve be an excellent entry level phone for me? It wont be used for much business (one email account for work, not used much) but more for browsing, and the organization features I need for nursing school and work combined. I did see somewhere there was a really nice drug dictionary I could add on, which would be great for me. I do know I dont like the sound of this sure touch typing, which is why I was leaning towards the curve. I have been researching all of this off and on for about 6 months now, but been highly addictive to crackberry site for about 2 months now.

Any opinions would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jenn

From what you said your needs are I would go with the curve. As a student its more affordable and you would probably appreciate that and the curve's ease of use.

yes, buddy is correct. touch screen is real fun, but it can be difficult to use. I personally don't like the feel of typing on touch screens of any kind, I need the buttons. I have seen a storm though, and wow.......another good point is price. not only is the curve significantly cheaper then the strom will be, but many current users will be trying to dump their curve cheap soon after they run out and buy the storm full retail because they can't wait for their upgrade date (many crackberry users I'm sure!)

The Storm looks great, i agree!

i also agree that the Curve is less expensive at this point and is a FATASTIC phone!

You'll be able to get the Storm (or another BB) after you've had your Curve one or two years. i never get a phone that just came out! Wait a bit and get a substantially lower price on the SAME phone if you wait!

That's just how i do it.

i personally would not get the Storm because i could not stand the fingerprints.

I do not like the fingerprint deal as well. Yet, the Storm looks so awesome.
Yet, I would suggest you go with a Curve or even a Pearly. I love my Pearly.

Ouch, you going to take that CBK with your manly Pearl........wait a sec.

Seriously, for the OP, I think the Curve would be the best bet for you. The Storm looks cool, but being new and you will be new to Blackberry, could REALLY turn you off. I think the Storm is cool also, but that touch type thing just turns me off! Go with the Curve and you will not be disappointed.

Yea, you can never go wrong with the curve! It's a great device.... - I'm so happy I made the switch from the 8830 to my curve.

    Welcome to crackberry!

I picked up the Curve this week as my first smartphone. I can definitely vouch for the fact that it is easy to use. Everything from browsing, texting, application installs, all have been a breeze.

Bottom line: Either route you choose, it's a berry and it's the right choice.

I may be getting the Storm, but like you said, it is new for RIM and getting the Curve is a safer idea.

If the drug dict. will work on the Curve and your not too keen on the sure type feature of the Storm then maybe the Curve would be the right BB for you.

I'm not sure how much better the browser on the Storm might be though. You have waited six months already, a few more weeks wouldn't hurt if you think you might second guess your decision

Thank you all so much for your input. I have decided to go with the curve, hopefully the end of this week. Thankfully, my company has a plan with Verizon, and I get new every year instead of new every two, so I figure that will give the storm time to work out any bugs that may arise, and I can decide later after playing with someone elses if it is truly what I want. I never really thought about the fingerprint aspect of it, and If I am paying that much for a phone, I dont want it looking dirty. Plus.... beckymae can do a custom cover for me , and I want something that stands apart from anything anyone else owns.

Thanks, and hopefully by the end of the week, Ill be joining the crackberry world!
