Hi I am new to Blackberrys. I just got my Blackberry Curve a couple days ago and began surfing the web. I have tried a sports betting site thegreek.com, when I get there and try to login in, I type my user name in the user name box and my password in the password box. Then I got down to login and press the button to click the login box and nothing happens at all, page never loads the new page, it wont proceed at all. Why wont it allow me to click the login box and login? Please if anyone can help this would be much appreciated. I am wondering if this will happen on other sites where I will try to login, like the box isnt active on the browser? Any help please would be greatly appreciated.

Try going into your browser options and enabling the java script.

I had a similar problem. I'm not sure it can be fixed. In my case, I went to a site and tried to use the "logout" button, and I get the error message "The requested action could not be performed. JavaScript is not enabled on this handheld."

I called AT&T, and they tell me (surprise, surprise!) that the Blackberry 8300 (Curve) does not use Java. No further help or support was offered, except to tell me that maybe I could find a website that allowed me to download Java for the Blackberry 8300. So, far, no luck.

Anyway, I'm not sure what it means that "JavaScript is not enabled on this handheld", but, there it is.

From the browser screen / menu / options / general configuration / support javascript = check it...

Ps: always better to use wap websites rather than 'normal full' websites...

There are some sites that you will NOT be able to navigate. My wife hates it, because there is a trading site she loves, but cannot get past the main page. Hence, the site is not mobile friendly. Anyways, welcome to CB. Hope to see you around.

Looking at the dates of this post I realize the issue may be cold, but the problem still exists!

I have the same issue with a site that utilizes the JAVA runtime environment (you know, you go to a site and a little "coffee cup" appears in your after a few moments).

I think this might be an issue for ALL BlackBerries.

They lack the support for the JAVA programming language (and the runtime files needed to instantiate any instances of JAVA).

Bear in mind JAVA is NOT the same as Javascript. Javascript is just that. A "scripting" language meant to provide functionality to web pages. Blackberries have support for that!

JAVA is a programming language that needs those runtime files. Unless we find a compatible runtime environment or addin for our BlackBerry browsers, we are not going to get access.

What you get now is partial access. For instance, I access a message board. I see the reply window, the subject line, but, I cannot click into any of those areas to add content! Very frustrating!

Is there a version of JAVA for BlackBerries? I'll try to answer that question and will post back if I find anything!

It won't let me post the link because I am new...Google it.

Let me log in and place bets. Plus, if views the web in a much more iphone type way. Works great!

I tried that mdorret. In fact, I tried every single kind of combination for those settings. I'm glad you had better luck than me. I think the site I am trying to access has other issues as well.

I have Opera Mini and it's great. It's gets me closer to the functionality of the page than the default browser, but I still cannot access the content.

I'll wait for an upgrade I guess.
