I think I must be crazy......I have a Pearl 8130 and I know it used to go into "sleep" mode. Now it never does and the screen stays on all the time and it runs my battery down.

    Please help!

There is a mute key located on the top of your phone, hold that down and it will go into standby mode. Also adjust the screen brightness to a lower brightness, and make the backround dim sooner. It will all make your battery last longer .

Try a battery pull. Should free it up. Keep an eye on your file free memory. If it gets low it starts acting up. go to options>status, the file free number should be at least 12000000 for smooth operation. Welcome to CB!

They were not talking about memory. They were referring to the battery.

Have you made any changes in Options? You may have inadvertently changed something there. If not - the battery pull is always a good first place to start.

I will try the battery pull.....but it seems like it used to do it automatically without having to used the mute button.

I'm a very capable reader, and understand fully what the op was asking. I also know the Pearls limited memory causes the device to act erratically when low.
I was trying to help the op find the cause of the problem. I highly doubt the screen brightness is the issue here and if the op has had the device for more than three minutes they know they have a mute button, but thank you for sharing your opinion.

I was not saying the brightness was the cause of the problem, but until they find a solution, it give them more battery life.
