    I'm getting the Storm for christmas and I was just wondering
    since I've been a long time lurker, what exactly is a battery pull
    and what does it do?

    A battery pull is just that. Remove the battery from the device and then put it back in. It does a hard reset of the device, which has many benefits. It's like duct tape, fixes everything.

    It's probably obvious, but I mention it because I've seen the ? on the forums a lot.

    You pull the battery while the phone is ON, not while the phone is already OFF. :-)

    If you do a battery pull with the phone OFF, it doesn't do anything.
