    Hi
I'm about to switch from my Q5 to the Z10. So, I would assume that I would just put my sim card in from the Q5. Right... but what about contacts and apps? I did take advantage of the free ones during the 25 days of Xmas. Won't I lose these?
    Any response is appreciated

    Thanks

Those will be under your blackberry ID. On BlackBerry World, go to my world > my applications and games > available.

Enter the same BlackBerry ID into the new device and then use the device transfer option in BlackBerry Link. All your apps, files and settings to make their way over.

    Great. Thanks

I would assume I do this after I transfer my sim card to the new device.

    Before or after, doesn't matter.

Your contacts should be saved on your SIM, and your BBID is universal on any BlackBerry device (so long that the apps are compatible with the device).

All you need is to pop the SIM over!

It's worth mentioning that if you want all apps, media, settings to transfer without setting everything up again, it is best to backup your Q5 and restore those settings to your Z10 (unless I am mistaken).

Fortunately, as others have said, all your apps will be available to download again at no cost from BlackBerry World as they are bound to your BlackBerry ID

Depending on your carrier, your contacts will move when you install your sim. You can try backing up your contacts and calendar with Outlook not Outlook Express.
