I think my eyes are going to be bigger than my pocketbook and my poor new Curve's memory while browsing all the apps for the Blackberry. Not being able to run apps is one of the few, but biggest hangups on my short list of things I DON'T like about the Blackberry. (possible in the future?)

(I'm used to being able to load up a card on my old Treo)

So given this, about how many apps can one safely fit on the Blackberry Curve without affecting performance?

How many apps do you folks have on your phones?

    Welcome to CrackBerry Alsley.

You have an 8330 with 96 Mb of flash memory, 50% more then most Curve or Pearls.

Problems occur when your available memory approaches your Device Reserved Memory setting in Media / Option. In later version OS, the minimum setting is 5 Mb, leaving plenty of working memory for applications.

If I recall correctly, v4.3xx, shipped with your 8330 has a 12 Mb minimum setting.

A typical application is 500 Kb. You can easily load a couple dozen third party applications and not see any impact on normal use.

Hey all, thanks for the info. That's wonderful news about being able to have more than 10 or so apps. I'm still in Treo 650 mode.

My only issue with deleting any apps, espeically ones installed over the air and not backed up to a computer, is that most of them cost money and deleting them is akin to throwing away the money you've spent on them. I'm someone who, once I've bought something, likes to hang on to it. I'd uninstall apps from my treo but hang on to the file itself on a CD in case I wanted it back.

Has anyone tried out this program yet?

I can't post links yet, so a Google search should bring it up.
