To gain enough confidence to experiment with your BB? I have only had my BB for a week, and I've been reading about a lot of cool apps, the How To Forum, and even have thought about updating my OS, but I'm afraid I'll bork it up.

I'm a tech savy guy, I just lack some confidence in my BB skills to really delve into the customization of it.

How long did it take you to know if you messed something up, you could fix it, even though it may be time consuming?

The "scariest" things I've done is upgrade the OS and free up memory by getting rid of unnecessary stuff.

Just make sure you read and understand the guides that are here on CB before you do anything and you'll do just fine.

For me, so far so good, the phone hasn't turned into a brick yet.

It took me ~ 2 months, but I've installed apps (removed them too), upgraded the OS, synced, backed up, moved photos/video, etc.

The scariest was upgrade of the OS just because of the bad publicity I've seen through the forums of horror stories.

However, I followed the instructions EXACTLY, which took 20+ minutes longer than the instructions said, and everything was flawless!

I started getting all the files ready two days before I got my 8310. Then as soon as I got home I upgraded the firmware and now I am doing themes.

I'd already perused Crackberry.com for so long I thought I'd go nuts as soon as I got my berry. But I kept it pretty stock for a week and then I realized I was going to upgrade the OS anyways, wipe the device before the upgrade.... I familiarized myself with all that trying to revive a dead berry I found at work back in the Summer.

So then it didn't matter what I did, installed, or changed on my BB since I ended up giving it an exorcism anyways with a wipe and OS upgrade.

When the time came all I needed was a newer OS and one or more of these:

I'm very careful about what I add and do because I can't have any problems with my BlackBerry. I depend on it too much.

About a week or 2 until I updated the OS and I was trying out themes and applications after the first week. I was worried about all that stuff too.

    Welcome to CB!

I'd get comforable with your new BB first. Take 'er slow. Remember that adding apps, reduces overall memory. I may still chop a couple of games I have just to free up more space. The more free memory the BB has, the happier it operates. And when it comes time to upgrade your OS, and it will, you have a whole bunch of us here that have travelled down that road and came out just fine. You can tap our experience and it'll make your OS upgrade a smooth one. There's alot of good information in here. The search feature is your friend. I've learned that when I'm looking for something, that when I google it, many times it points me right back here, to crackberry.com.

    Enjoy the addiction
