Just joined, had my blackberry a few hours now and I can say i'm really liking it so far, i've managed to set up wifi at home and email, connected it to my pc and downloaded mp3.
One silly question I really need to know, as i've not used a mobile device to connect to email/web before. When i've finished browsing/sending emails, do I need to disconnect or anything?
I don't want my next bill to arrive and it be for 1,0000's!
It always says GPRS in the top right hand corner, and when i've got wifi on it says wifi too (i've turned it off incase I'm using my Data allowance, until I know wether i'm supposed to turn it off or not when i'm not using it.)
It only uses your data when you actually send or receive email. Don't need to turn it off. Some apps will keep using data when they run, but no worries with email
I wasn't actually going to get a blackberry, I had looked at them and had a vague idea of what they could do, I was swayed by the operator when I upgraded, i'm glad she did talk me into it but I really feel in it upto my eyeballs!
Is there a way I can browse the internet in a way that looks like the internet, or is mobile browsing limited to just the lines of text i'm getting? Do I need to install a browser?
If I download software on my BB thats going to eat into my data allowance right? should I download on the pc then sync the BB and install it from there?
You could download OperaMini - which enables full browsing & it's better than the native BB browser. And when you download things on the internet via your BB it does eat data, so unless you have an unlimited data plan.. it might be better for you to download on your PC & sync to your BB.
