Just got my Pearl 8130 w/Verizon Wireless and so far I love it.

I live near Pittsburgh, PA and use my Pearl for both personal and business use.

So far I've unlocked all the vendor themes and added in a few apps like WeatherEye - and I've also run into a few issues - like the free PacMan app not working and giving me some sort of java error and BBweather hassling me about a bad URL - but I'm working on figuring out those issues.

What I'm wondering is (I've already been warned that my Pearl's memory was low) - will adding a micro-sd card help with this issue?

I'm not sure exactly what adding a card will do for my Pearl - but I'm hoping that it will help with this issue rather than it just being a place to dump my mp3s. I ordered an 8gb micro-sd card but it isn't here yet.

    Hi

A micro sd card is only for storing pictures/ringtones/music and video.

The size of card you can insert is dependant on your operating system.

hmmm - so no apps, themes etc can be stored on the memory card...

Wonder why I keep getting the "low memory" warning then? I really don't have THAT much on my phone - I've only had it since last Friday.

WeatherEye, BBToday, BBLight, Blackjack and all the unlocked Vendor Themes. Plus maybe 8 or 10 ring tones I made with the Blackberry/Roxio software.

You need to make sure you close your applications. Just hitting the back button does not close them. You can close them by using the menu button and selecting close. It's also a good idea to reset your phone. This is done one of two ways. Take the battery out for a bit and put it back in, or download the soft reset application. Saving your pictures and music to an sd card will free up some memory for you, but mainly it is open applications that cause the memory to decrease. I reset my phone about 2-3 times a week. I know some people reset theirs daily. I would recommend the soft reset application. I don't like ripping my battery out all of the time.

Also, with themes, I would only keep a few themes on your phone. If you aren't using them store them on your computer and when you want to change you can just install it again from your desktop manager.

Welcome to CB. What's your free space left? Make sure you have more than 10mb at any time.

If you don't, your next question will be missing messages and call logs.

Welcome to CB. As far as memory goes. I would get rid of most of the vendor themes as they take up a ton of memory

Neat - I'm in Zelienople (but just say Pittsburgh/Cranberry since that's what most folks recognize). My wife used to live in Squirrel Hill - so we spent a lot of time in the Shadyside area when we were dating. She went to Pitt and worked at UPMC.

That would be 3.6mb. You need to free up a lot of memory. Read the two links that were posted by Chaz above. Helped me tremendously.
