Hello! Longtime lurker, love this site.

I'm pretty sure the FedEx truck is just around the corner with my new Z10 and I was hoping you all could point me in the right direction, thread-wise etc., to help me make the transition from my beloved Bold 9650 (literally, my first smartphone). The more I try to read up, the more freaked out I get. I've got a ton of email accounts and social media to move and am lucky to remember half my passwords -- no, I haven't been using an app.

Touchscreen alone -- nevermind the operating system -- is a huge, largely unwanted step for me. Help me avoid grievous errors. Speak slowly and in simple sentences. Thanks!

I have heard repeatedly that this keyboard is the way to go, if you do go virtual. Encounters with the iPhone just had me so frustrated, I've been resistant. But then again, I used to swear I'd never give up my flip phone...

First thing I'd say is take a PC or Mac and log in to the various services you be setting up again so that you can verify you have the correct passwords. And if not you can change them.

Because, it would be frustrating on top of all that other new stuff to figure out -- to also be trying and retyping in your password on a new device with an unfamiliar keyboard.

Thank you all! It came late so I'll be sitting down at my Mac later today to get started.

I'll be moving over several email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo and three through GoDaddy) plus Twitter (currently managing four or five accounts through the app there), Facebook (of course)... app wise, I'm not too concerned -- Tumblr never worked right but I've got an AccuWeather app and Call Box, which was nice for loaning my phone to my mom. This whole "BlackBerry doesn't have all the apps" thing? Obviously not a huge concern for me! Really, email is my biggest concern and when I think about potentially re-setting all those passwords, I could slap myself/cry.

I am, however, guessing I should get myself a password management app, eh?

BlackBerry has one such app: Password Keeper!

Password Keeper was one of the first things I did!
I'm pretty much good to go (after blowing off a half day of work) and am already in love with the thing. I'm surprised how fast I'm adapting to the virtual keyboard.

And I've already heard the magic words from my best friend, "say, this is nicer than the iPhone."

You'll never regret the keyboard. The Z was my first virtual, and I never missed a beat. It's so smart it quickly learned even names of client companies I use regularly and started to suggest so I could flick up. And they aren't even real words.
