Hello, great forum with tons of info.

I just purchased a Blackberry 8310 & ATT nationwide calling plan with early nights and weekends, Blackberry Internet Service and Telenav GPS. Also purchased a RIM case and car charger, Samsung WEP200 BT headset and a dash vent car mount. All should be in Monday or Tuesday via UPS.

    A little about myself:

I am a medically retired 82nd Airborne paratrooper and disabled veteran and have served in both the US Navy and the US Army. I am a combat veteran with 2 years of combat in 3 tours seing combat in Iraq in both Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom and also in Afghanistan in Operation Enduring Freedom where I was awarded the Bronze Star.

I have over 8 years experiance driving semi truck over the road and have owned 4 trucks. I am now starting up a business again hauling travel trailers, boats and horse trailers with my 2006 F350 Dually and recently leased on to Horizon Transport, one of the largest RV transport companies in the US.

I chose the Curve based on RIM's reputation for reliability and the 8310 Curve has the features I need to streamline my business so I don't have to carry so much electronic eye candy in the cab of the truck to invite a break in.... Yes I have had trucks broken into before and it bites to say the least.

The Curve 8310 will eliminate me having to carry a camera in case of a claim, accident or damage to follow the CYA principle. The Telenav will eliminate a stand alone GPS unit and the dasv vent holder should work well to mount the berry, Telenav will also help save me fuel (at 10 MPG loaded 3 gallons of saved diesel fuel from not missing turns and going out of route will pay for itself and time..... time is money.

Would have liked WiFi but the laptop has it and I need a laptop and a printer anyways to be able to dispatch myself over the internet because they havn't been able to get the dispatch program on the corporate servers to be compatible with PDAs yet. Good news is the IT staff says they are looking into it.

I am technologically literate but am definatly behind the "Curve" when it comes to the Blackberry.

May 2008 be a great year for all here.

    Welcome to the forums!

And a big THANK YOU for all your service to our country!

Thanks but no need to thank me. It's the only job I could find that I could shoot machine guns, blow stuff up, travel around the world and jump out of airplanes without going to jail

Need to thank the General Sherzie's and General Gulali's Afghan militia that found and took out a sniper waiting for me to start my daily escort and defuel mission of Pakistani fuel trucks, my Romanian infantry security detail for finding explosives planted on 3 fuel trucks we were escorting and the fool that put the wrong fuse on the morter shell that went through the roof of my tent 10 feet from where I was sitting watching a portable DVD player. Without any of them I wouldn't be here today.

Cool pics from Afghanistan, no need for thanks, just sharing some things that I have been fortunate enough to be a part of and see that most never will.

Me at a meeting with Afghan Warlord General Sherzie. His brother was the Governor that was shot in the neck during an assasination attempt on Karzai in Kandahar and made news world wide about the Navy seals that were in civilian cloths and had scruffy beards chasing down and shooting the would be assasins. I remember that day well, waved to him on the way out the gate 5 minutes before he was shot. His brother survived and was doing well when I left country. A couple of good men, they used to stop and offer us watermelon and grapes when they seen us working outside the wire. If you needed ANYTHING this guy could get it.

Me at a meeting with Afghan Warlord General Gulali. Here's a man that says little and gets big results, his militia is as hardcore as they come and bad news if you cross them. Great Kabobs at his place. Ate dinner with him many times.

Thanks for the warm welcome. The Curve came in today..... er actually yesterday now, guess I should go to bed as it's 1:27 AM here, been playing with it for about 7 hours now.

I love it, paired flawlessly with a Samsung WEP200 headset, easy to navigate and change settings, love the trackball, camera does pretty good on still shots, synced easily with my desktop, GPS quickly found satelites and my location, easy to change settings for the convienience buttons on the sides, voice dial works well and I made it to level 2 on brick breaker first try too LOL.

I'm happy with it, will work well to run my small business and eliminate some clutter of now un needed items like a camera and GPS unit in the truck.

Couple more days and I'll have it exactly how I want it....... until I change my mind again

To all who serve, have served, will someday serve and those that support us. THANK YOU!!!!
