Hello, New Curve 8310 User
Hello, great forum with tons of info.
I just purchased a Blackberry 8310 & ATT nationwide calling plan with early nights and weekends, Blackberry Internet Service and Telenav GPS. Also purchased a RIM case and car charger, Samsung WEP200 BT headset and a dash vent car mount. All should be in Monday or Tuesday via UPS.
A little about myself:
I am a medically retired 82nd Airborne paratrooper and disabled veteran and have served in both the US Navy and the US Army. I am a combat veteran with 2 years of combat in 3 tours seing combat in Iraq in both Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom and also in Afghanistan in Operation Enduring Freedom where I was awarded the Bronze Star.
I have over 8 years experiance driving semi truck over the road and have owned 4 trucks. I am now starting up a business again hauling travel trailers, boats and horse trailers with my 2006 F350 Dually and recently leased on to Horizon Transport, one of the largest RV transport companies in the US.
I chose the Curve based on RIM's reputation for reliability and the 8310 Curve has the features I need to streamline my business so I don't have to carry so much electronic eye candy in the cab of the truck to invite a break in.... Yes I have had trucks broken into before and it bites to say the least.
The Curve 8310 will eliminate me having to carry a camera in case of a claim, accident or damage to follow the CYA principle. The Telenav will eliminate a stand alone GPS unit and the dasv vent holder should work well to mount the berry, Telenav will also help save me fuel (at 10 MPG loaded 3 gallons of saved diesel fuel from not missing turns and going out of route will pay for itself and time..... time is money.
Would have liked WiFi but the laptop has it and I need a laptop and a printer anyways to be able to dispatch myself over the internet because they havn't been able to get the dispatch program on the corporate servers to be compatible with PDAs yet. Good news is the IT staff says they are looking into it.
I am technologically literate but am definatly behind the "Curve" when it comes to the Blackberry.
May 2008 be a great year for all here.
