HI!

Have you tried logging onto BIS? Or you can go to set up internet email.
That registers your berry to your carrier's network, but won't set up your e-mail
I went to att.com/blackberrystart and put in my PIN and IMEI. Thats when it tells me that my device is not registered. I follow that same path, register "again" but it never takes.
To setup your @att.blackberry.net address, you need to go into personal email setup, and create a user id and password, then it will prompt you to create the email account. From there, you can also add your other email addresses to the BB
hmmmm, is the radio on?,
you DO have a bb data plan right?
If you do, try going thru Set Up Internet Email on your phone.
Beat me to it Cjcarbone. Eh.
Gah. I feel so dumb. Actually, I feel like my 60 year old dad who proclaimed he hates his BB because he can't figure it out!
I know I am signed up for Blackberry Personal through AT&T. I'm guessing that is the data plan? And I don't think I have the radio on. But who knows at this point.
I am so not used to being this dumb. :p
If you can't log onto BIS, and are certain that you have a Blackberry Data Plan, and HAVE pulled the battery with the device on then tried to add an email account thru "set up internet email" on your phone, maybe just maybe, you should call support so that they can resend your service books.
Thanks for trying to help. I am just going to have to call in the morning. I think maybe something went wrong because I realized I don't have an Internet Explorer icon. And in the Getting Started book it talks about saying 'yes' if you want to connect to the wireless network during setup and my BB didn't ask me that.
I will prevail!
in the upper corner by the signal bars, do you have SOS, GPRS EDGE off, or signal bars?
If it's not showing up, it's probably because they haven't added the data plan to your phone. It happens. Reps are stupid sometimes. Once they add the feature, you should have no problems. I might be wrong, but just talking from personal experience.
good luck
It says edge (all lower)and then shows the signal bars.
Then amberpeaches you either don't have the data plan or something is wrong with your sim card(with data plan it supposed to be EDGE, capital letters) call your service provider to make sure do you have the BIS plan
The BIS data plan has not be provisioned properly, EDGE is supposed to be showing.
You need to call your provider, and make sure they add the Blackberry data plan, not just a PDA plan, or a medianet plan.
I had that issue recently, i called to cancel the 49.99 BB unlimited with unlimited SMS, so i could add the BB unlimited, and the 29.99 family unlimited SMS, and the added a PDA internet plan, which wont work properly with your BB.
