I have a problem and I'm hopeful you can help. I gave my 14 yr. old daughter a BB 8300 Curve for Christmas. I bought it from a very reputable dealer on eBay. The device was listed as unlocked and needing only to have the sim card inserted and away you go! NOT!! The world of cellular devices is all new to me so forgive me for my ignorance. What can I do to determine if this phone is indeed unlocked? Please point me in the right direction to find my way out of the doghouse and at least up onto the porch!
Well one sure way to tell if it is unlocked is take your SIM card out of your phone or any phone and put it in, It should work if unlocked. You won't do anything bad to either things. We switch SIM cards sometimes just for the other phone's features.
When you put in your simcard did you get any errors on the screen?
Can you make a call?
As far as the data features, you'll need a data plan if she intends to use them.
No I can't make a call. She has data features already.

This may help you determine if the device is unlocked:
Well, according to the pics this phone appears to be unlocked but even though there are no errors on screen, it can not find a network to connect to.

That and the fact that I don't know why her phone isn't working..... I mean c'mon dad..... like o'my gawd!! Are you serious........ like for reals?! LOL!
What error message do you get at the top of the home screen? It may say "network not available" or "SOS" or "SIM Regected" or something along these lines.
