I forgot the password for my blackberry 8800. Is there a way to retrieve it without losing all of the information on my bberry. Please let me know. Thanks.

No there is not. Did you do a recent backup of your device?

Sorry, but no. Your only option is to type your password wrong however many times and then your BlackBerry will wipe and you will lose everything on it. I wish I had better news

No work around for this . if you can't remember it, go ahead and prepare to add your stuff back on and punch in a password until it resets to out of the box condition and start setting it up again.
    Sorry.

If you loaded your Desktop Manager and synced to your home computer, you can reset your pasword there without losing all your information.

Berry, Desktop manager prompts for the password. How does the OP get around that?

Honestly, I haven't ever had to try it, so I don't know. But a I was at a Blackberry training yesterday and the rep there told us about it because this situation just came up the other day. I will try to clarify tonight and post.

Good! That work around would be great news for many members as this comes up fairly often.

That should work with the existing password, but not let an unauthorized user open a protected device.

There is no way to distinguish between a forgotten password and a stolen device.

I'd like to know how this works, too. Any time I connect my 8830 to Desktop Manager, it asks for my password. How can you reset it if you don't know it?

Just random passwords until the BlackBerry wipes and it will be good as new.
