email and contacts question

i am going to set up the internet package hopefully in a few days and im trying to figure out two things that noone has helped me answer yet, i have contacts from my old pocket pc that i am trying to get copied over because i have a fair amount, and i was wondering the post painless way to do so,

my main question is that i have alot of emails that i normally kept stored on my old pocket pc (plain text formatted not html with attachments on the memory card) and i was wondering if there was a way i could replicate this because i wanted access to my full gmail inbox (150mb) that is about 430ish messages and their folders and i just wanted to be able to store the messages on my device and the attachments on the card, sorry for being long winded but is any of this possible:confused:
