Options > Security Options > General Settings > Hit "Menu" > Wipe Hanheld
he he too slow.....what GoDJ said :D
Yep...you can wipe the device and it will erase all data from the previous owner. You can also choose to wipe any 3rd party apps that were installed.
To wipe: Options > Security Options > General Settings > Menu Key > Wipe Handheld > Follow prompts.
hth,
e.n. :)
thanks so much!
once it is wiped i won't need to reinstall anything that didn't come with it out of box right?
It will basically be like brand new?
also, it won't 'wipe' my SIM card contacts will it?
thanks again.
Take the sim card out just in case. It shouldn't. You will need to call att and get them to release the pin if the previous owner hasn't done that. But other than that welcome to crackberry and enjoy it

welcome to the crack!
The best and true way to restore to factory is wiping the device completely. Use JL_CMDER.
Ensure you backup your data and also download and install the OS prior to using.
i'd rather do the device wipe than using the software.
if the phone is locked to the at&t network how can i wipe it without my sim card in there?
what is the pin that i am asking the previous owner for?
thanks
U don't need the SIM card in for a bb to operate...
It will work without one u just want be able to access the network...

Just remember that "wipe handheld" will erase EVERYTHING!
Welcome to CrackBerry Vinny.
Wiping the device will remove data and restore settings, but it does not restore applications that may have been deleted from it prior to the wipe.
If you want a true out of the box restore, you will have to download and reinstall the OS software. The Advanced Options button will allow you to not preserve data or settings.
That will result in the Select Language prompt when you start it up the first time.
