Looking to purchase a BB Bold on the 29th (my current service contract expires the 28th). One question to which AT&T reps have given me different answers. My primary reason for a BB is the hopes of quick and easy email retrieval - Outlook and Gmail accts in particular. For Outlook, I don't necessarily need all the bells and whistles (can even live without my calendar), but I want my email pushed to a folder for quick retrieval. Do I need to upgrade to the BES service for this? An AT&T contract with 450 voice minutes, unlimited data & email would already run me $79.99, and I'd need another $20 charge for BES. Just want to make sure I can do Outlook easily without it.

Your Outlook and Gmail email will sync to your BlackBerry with BIS. You won't need BES. BES is generally used in corporate IT environments where security and control of the device are paramount concerns, but BlackBerry does have a free single-user BES package.

Exchange server? If so, you will need BES, unless your company allows for forwarding.
