All outgoing text messages are 'pending'???

Hi I just got a gorgeous new BB9000 last week on vodafone in the U.K.

I put my existing SIM card in it and I can succesfully make and reciece calls, and receive text messages however when I actually try to send a text message (SMS) they never deliver and remain pending. No one has recieved a text message from me this week!

This is my first Blackberry and I love it, but would love it even more if I could actually send text messages!

Have I missed something massively obvious?

Please can you help me out.

I would try a battery pull to clear everything up and get a new network connection
