Hi this may be a very stupid question, but what do 1xEV and 1x mean? Does one of them mean that I am connected to the internet? Because I don't even have a Blackberry internet account and I haven't even set up an email account on my Blackberry.. It seems like my phone will sometimes switch between the two. How can I set it so that 1x is always enabled?

You must be on Verizon.

1x means your BB is connected to the normal data network.

1xEV means you are connected to the high-speed EV-DO data network. EV-DO is faster, better for all of your BlackBerry data functions. You want that.

Your icon will switch back and forth as your EV-DO coverage comes and goes.
