What BBM really needs to keep up the competition is:

    1. Invisible status/profile- ability to be invisible to certain or all contacts.
    2. More and new emoticons. Instead of picticons add-on.
    3. Ability to use built in camera as web-camera while chatting.
    4. Free avatars.
    5. Push to talk to all BBM contacts for FREE within BBM.
    6. Built in radio like aol/yahoo.
    7. Automatic updates.

Cant think of the rest sorry if this is a double post... I searched 1st

Please no. BBM's already bloated enough as it is.

To me BBM is perfectly fine as is and all of that would just create a very bloated
    and less functional app.

    1) I don't need this. If I don't want to be bothered I (a) set myself to busy or
    (b) don't respond.
    2) Could not care less about emoticons.
    3) Without a forward facing camera this is an impractical addition.
    4) See #2
    5) If I need to speak to someone I just call them. This is after all a phone.
    6) There are already at least 6 radio apps, all of which run in the background
    while BBM is running
    7) Not necessary

yea help me understand these automatic updates. and Emoticons or whatever really? lol thats funny.

Free Avatars there free now if you want an avatar go on the internet copy and past throw it in there, or put a pic you have taken, i mean i don't really understand that one.

The other stuff you proposed shoot sounds like it would be cool to have, i dont mind the more the better (well not in Blackberry's case the more the worse this device becomes and slows down).

How about integration with FB chat. Not quite sure how that would work, but it'd be kinda cool. No?

I don't know. That's why I'm confused by the OP. I thought smileys and other stuff were emoticons.

Ok. I don't really see how they are that much different from emoticons or why there is an overwhelming need to have them.

Oh **** to the mofo naw!! Last thing BBM needs is to be tied in with all or
any of the ridiculous "social networking" apps

I don't even use Facebook, Myspace, or any of those sites. I don't even like having Facebook and Myspace launchers pushed to my device. The last thing I want is to have links to the sites pushed to my BBM.

I'm with you Laura. No Facebook, never used MySpace and recently deleted
Twitter account. Put any of that crap in BBM and BBM will go on my automatic
    deletion list.

I do have a Twitter account, but I only follow the Ohio Department of Transportation. I use their tweets to find out about road problems.

I have the NBC traffic cam app so I can see I-91, I-84 and most other main
roads (State and Interstate) and I don't need to communicate with anyone.
    I'm antisocial like that

Also Garmin Mobile re-routes me around traffic very well. A blessing in New England
winters where people lose the ever loving minds during the slightest degree
of inclement weather. Snow here is like Miracle-Gro for morons.

    I have Garmin Mobile also.

I don't actually communicate with ODOT on Twitter. I'll just sign in to Ubertwitter before heading out on the road. I don't leave it running once I start driving. I let Garmin handle the rest.

OH drivers are not much better when it snows!

I completely agree! I took driver's training in the winter in Akron......a million years ago....and two of those lessons were during a blizzard so I know how to drive in the snow. But as soon as the flakes fly others act like they've never seen snow. OMG, it snows every year! It's really annoying driving on the road with morons.
