Im going out of the country and will be charged for using bbm or receiving msgs. I dont want to turn off my phone because i will be using it for texting. Is there any way to turn OFF bbm while my phone is still on? other than deleting the app all together because i do not want to lose everything and i will be using it when i have wifi..

thanks! please answer ASAP as i am leaving tomorrow morning!!!

You can turn off data usage in mobile network options.

    What phone?

Also. Texting will probably get MUCH more charge than bbm.
    Just pointing it out.

It doesn't matter, all BB's are the same.

Wrong. BB6 and BB5 is not the same.

OS6 you can tap the top.
OS5 you have to go to options.

    I win.

Did you download the newest BBM?

If you just reinstall you will not lose all contacts.

Not sure about deleteing. Just backit up on your SD card.

Bbm is the cheapest way to stay in touch when abroad, not texting, you can easily get 400-500 bbms out of 1mb and if you find a wifi hotspot they're free. Honestly, keep it on.

Yes, use Wifi for BBM! My bf did that when he went to England for a week and no charges were incurred.

What I do is leave data on and set off for roaming.... and use wifi for BBM and even received emails.
but I use os5 so I don't know if the setting is different in os6

Honestly, bbm only uses 2-3kb per text bbm, no need to turn it off.

You must've sent a lot of photos
Is that 90 on top of your usual or 90 total? Some carriers charge a lot for data, roaming from UK on Orange network to US on AT&T they charged 8 for 1mb.

On top of usual. And I didn't send pictures... it was just bbm chatting (not even me totally.... my friends were hogging my phone... I'd get my phone back with 10% battery left).
I was on a cruise ship so I stopped by a few islands and countries in South America.
I was lucky I could get them to take the charge off because I had made a phone call to CS before I left and I was given the wrong information.
I live in Central America btw.
