Nah, no worries. You're right. This is probably the case.
I got your back.....good thread man. I also have been telling people how to go back. Now I'm just cheating and linking them here cus I'm cheesy like that. Whats funny is I am not having any problems whatsoever. Its on one 8320 with 4.5.0.161 and 2 of my other curves running my new hybrid .161/4.6/5.0.....shows 4.6.0.257 as my apps

Yeah it was working fine for me yesterday up until the night time. I did the
whole service books and HRT thing but nothing really changed. Supposedly
it was an RIM thing and not BBM thing. That's what someone told me that CX
    posted on Twitter.

thank you so much. this helped me out incredibly. i tried to dnld bbm5 ota and ended up cancelling it in the middle.. then later on tonight my phone restarted itself and my bbm was gone for some reason.

just one question: do i need to do a restore? it seems that everything is the same. or is the restore to add the other bbm contacts back?

    thanks again!

You can do an advanced restore. On the left side open the file that you just backed up. All you'll need to do is transfer "Blackberry Messenger"

Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you! I got BBM 4.5 back because of this post, and I feel so much better now that I can go back to waiting for an official update to BBM 5.0.

All I did is went to options on my BB and deleted 5.0 bbm, then I went to my pc pluged in my usb cord to bb, brought DM and went to app loader and clicked on BBM and hit next. I lost all my contatcs but it was really simple. And you should back up ur bbm contatcs in ur reg contacts anyway.

    Hello,

I really need your help. I've downloaded the 5.0 but my bbm disappeared. I've tried many things, but nothing worked. I went to the store but they told me they couldn't help me. I've wiped my bb, but bbm doesn't show at my applications. I've tried to get my bbm back with JL_Cmder but.. also this didn't work. Maybe i'm doing something wrong? but I guess I've followed all the steps you wrote down.

I also tried to download bbm from the downloadsite, but this link didn't work. I'm getting really desperate! Can't I reset it to the factoryoptions?

Uhm.. and it just ended wiping and now I get a white screen that says "reload software: 507''
    Please heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp me :-(

I hope you did a backup as I suggested in the first post.

To reload the OS on the phone, follow the directions in the JL_Cmdr link I provided in a previous post.

A friend of mine PMed all this information and it DOES work!!!

This is the post I got this from, we've already reloaded it for 4.5.0.77. That's what this is set up to do, repair.77.

    Here's the post:

I sent the link to some friends on Curve 8330 running 4.5.0.77 and their BlackBerry Messenger disappeared. They were on vacation so they didn't have access to desktop manager. Since there was no official rim blackberry messenger download for 4.5 OS I made one.

You should probably delete Blackberry Messenger 5.0 from Options/Advanced/Applications first.

OTA Blackberry Curve 8330 BlackBerry Messenger version 4.5.0.77
Not gonna hurt to give it a try, especially if you get your BBM back.

It would be nice if they could make an OTA link for all the current BBM's so
all the threads could be resolved.

^^Agreed. I'll keep 5.0 for a bit longer, but I do foresee downgrading back to the original.

I just hooked up my BB to DM when it gave me the option to update, "Downgrade Blackberry Messenger" to 4.7 was in the list. I clicked "next" and my BB updated with the original version of BB Messenger. No need to for all those other steps, such as deleting 5.0 off your device, etc.

This is the case for some, but not all of us. I did what you did first before I
even deleted BBM 5.0 from my phone but the original one wasn't showing.

Gotcha. I just realized I lost my Messenger contacts when my phone re-booted with 4.7. Kinda sucks but I only had 6 contacts...
