I just signed up for T-Mobile and I have unlimited texts but I don't want to pay for a data plan.

I was considering buying a BlackBerry but I want to know if it is possible to have BlackBerry Messenger use my texting service instead of data. Thank you!

Nope. BBM goes through RIM's servers. You need a data plan to use RIM's servers, including any of their data-based apps (like the WAP browser, and IM apps).

That being said, it would be interesting to see if 5.0 would still provide threaded SMS, since it seems to be integrated with 5,0 and BBM.
