    Use BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

If you have the 5.0.0.33, BBM your contacts will be backed up remotely. This came in handy when I upgraded to the new OS and ended up with 2 BBMs and no icon. Remote backup restored my contact list in just minutes.

With it, you also have the option to save them on Media Card, also.

I understand, and I did this on a wireless update, to boot. No computer, 800 miles from home. You think I wasn't nervous?

It was also only the second time I'd downloaded an OS on my Curve. I'm pleased to say it went well, even with my own screwup.

But, I also wrote it up to let others know what not to do.

The other way is if you link all your contacts with their blackberry contacts. this saves their pin in their contact info so you can copy and paste to re-add them.
