When in doubt, update! The reasons they update things is usually to make them better, no reason not to update.

Alternatively, I say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

I never update anything that works unless I need a new feature or specific bug fix that is in the new release.

However, RIM seems to be blaming one of their December outages on a screwup in BBM. Not sure whether they meant the client code (what we run) or their back-end, so I did update BBM. It's pretty painless.

The new version of BBM also allows you to join BBM groups. I'm a member of a couple of hockey groups, a TV show group and a WTFmoment group. They're a lot of fun.

As long as the version you have is not the bugged (or was it some other one...) you're ok.

Most of the times, updates are just small bug fixes.

i still use 4.6 because 5.0 was way too buggy for me (profile pictures not working, disappearing text problem, etc.).

You can run OS 4.6 with the 5.0 messenger. That's what I do.

Interesting, i've always said "if it isn't broken, what an excellent time to fix it."

Anyways, I like the new BBM, and yes I do get the "disappearing text" as well, but it's a small price to pay for what I find a better BBM.

    Just upgrade!
