But thats not how it works. There is reason for version numbers. They dont just come out of their ***.
The odds are that they want to keep a larger gap between this generation and bbos 7 if that is what they call the first qnx-based version for phones given that tablet os wouldn't really make sense in that case.

Sorry if I'm asking a noob question but will we be able to load 6.1 on a Torch 1?
It seems like you guys are too busy bashing Rim or arguing to answer this guys valid question! Well anyone have an answer?

Or maybe know one knows? 6.1 seems to be coming out on more powerful hardware.

What about 6.1 lite, will that be an overhaul?

Don't think they will be coming out with a "6.1 lite" standard OS across the board, just like they have always done.

I can't see RIM wasting their time with a "lite" version. 6.1 is barely going to have a. presence because QNX smartphones will be out shortly after (hopefully). QNX is really where RIM is putting their money. 6.1 is for transition devices while they move to push out QNX devices.

CB users make up a lot of stuff. Some posters ideas actually turn into rumors in other peoples minds.

Think people are referencing a 6.0 lite version that was talked about before. Was supposed to support lower end devices below 512mb

Judging by the image saying it has a 800GHz processor, I wouldn't give 6.1 lite any merit. It actually looks poorly photoshopped.

IMO the full 6.1 software will offer the best experience and be available for the 1.2GHz devices including...

    -Bold Touch (Dakota/Montana)
    -Storm 3 (?) (Monaco/Monza)
    -Torch 2

6.1 lite should be for the 800MHz and older devices that launched with BB6

    -Next Gen Curve (Sedona)
    -New Curve Touch (Malibu)
    -Torch 1
    -Style
    -Bold 9780
-Possibly other BBs that officially support BB6 like (9700, 9650, 9300 etc)

Just trying to think logically here but this is not hard fact.

I hope 6.1 comes to the Bold 9650! If the Monaco is amazing, I'll probably get one, but I'm really enjoying my 9650 and if it gets 6.1 with no problems then I probably won't need to upgrade devices....

Typical of RIM, 6.1 will be supported on just 2 devices.

Amazing that they can release 6.1 when 6.0 is foreign to a majority of users.

You can do the everything that you just described with a simple Google search.
Google search is a website, Poynt is an app. We're talking about apps. And even if Google search can do the same, it still doesn't discredit Poynt from qualifying as a "super app". Just my opinion.

BTW, have you ever used Pageonce Pro? You wanna tell me that's not a "super app" either? If so, pls give reasons.

I think you are drastically inflating that list of those getting 6.1 lite, I'd bet that it was mostly intended for the new curve models.

Possibly the torch and 9780 might get it too, but no chance for pre os6 bbs to also get it and little chance of the style getting it since it is was only ever on one network and it would mean a lot of work with little benefit.

If you say so. I guess my definition of a "super app" would include a requirement that it actually did something super.
The way rim seem to be using the term is to describe apps that are not self-contained and become integrated into many parts of the os almost as much as the core apps themselves so for most phones this would probably be things like social media apps where you can create posts from various places on your device, post photos direct from the camera app on so on.
