Just seen they opened up the bbm beta to everyone all you have to do is sign up. I got my password code ten minutes after I signed up. Its pretty cool too almost looks like crunch SMS style bubbles.

Got in on it earlier this week, love it. A huge improvement over 5.0.0.66, IMO

Can we still register to the BETA zone if we don't have a data plan? Well I have unlimited emails / instant messaging data plan, just not browsing. Could i still test the programs (I'm talking other than BBM I know that will work)

The downloads are OTA for these, so I do not know that you will be able to download them to test them out.

The downloads can be done through your computer, using IE and load the active-x plugin when it prompts yu. Does not have to be done OTA.

Thats fine though if it's OTA, i can use WiFi... but my question is do we need to have a data plan to RUN the app, for example like Blackberry App World, it wont open if you dont have a data plan even if you're on Wifi

It is a Blackberry App, of course it needs some sort Blackberry feature on your service. It has to connect to the BB servers and will only happen with an active BB data plan.

That won't do you any good. You need a data plan to use BBM.
