99% of Android handsets vulnerable to account credential theft

Meaning are all the BB mail and messaging services encrypted by default even when using WiFi? Not talking about over a BES. It is, right?

All e-mail, BBM, Web and any other traffic that proxies through or uses the BIS is encrypted from your phone to the BIS. Same holds true with BES.

Hopefully RIM takes advantage of this, is what I am thinking. Is not this what real security IS? To think ahead of time about stuff like this and build your network model to prevent it.

Apart from encrypted communication Blackberry is the only platform the keeps the data encrypted on the device. A lot of people complain Blackberry takes a while to reboot and nobody understands that's for a reason and the reason is cryptographic kernel validation and had RIM not done that we would be rocking a jail broken, rooted devices. In btw RIM's cryptographic kernel validation is FIPS approved and the same mechanism is built in to the playbook and that makes hacking/rooting difficult or not possible.
