Yep you guessed Right. RIM Has declared there will be a shut down of ICQ. You need to remove the RIM ICQ app since it no longer works.

    Read this document Link:
KB24935-Discontinuation of ICQ for BlackBerry smartphones

As of December 4, 2010 Service from RIM will shut down data access to the app. RIM suggest you use other apps from Appworld that access ICQ.

Bad news but I don't use it so I was unaffected but feel bad for your lost.

Could AOL be combining AIM & ICQ finally?

Lets move the thread to Native Apps

I don't use ICQ, but I do wonder why it's been discontinued. I wonder if it had security issues? I was always under the impression that ICQ was a bit shady, spying, etc., but I don't really know if it's true.

There are no official Info's from RIM, but i have read in a German Forum, that the new Owner want to charge a fee to use their ICQ-Network with such Apps.

Didn't think, that RIMs ICQ Client is the last who disappeared.

It would be great if there was a Jabber Client.

What are you Talking about not official from RIM? Did you not look at the document link in the 2nd post which is straight from RIM. Its gone but other third party clients can use ICQ but RIM gave up development for it.
