As far as I know there isn't. It's just the way it works.

I know if you just get the message and don't roll the track ball or something it won't changed it to "R".
I'm not truly sure on this but I think so.
But for you to change it yourself, no.

    But don't quote me x)

I think the OP means that he doesn't want the sender to know that he, the recipient, has read the message. People do this for the same reason they don't reply to text messages or put people straight through to voicemail instead of answering the phone.

The only way I've found to accomplish this is to look at your "messages" (looks like an envelope) section instead of the bbm area but you only get the first line or so.

could you keep an open conversation with another contact... then when the other person sends a message it will show up in your current conversation window... ??

or how about, before you read the message.. go and turn off the phone's radio.. this way the phone cant send out a read reciept... then read the message and delete it... then go back and turn the radio on...

It has more to do with chicks who don't understand that one is busy.

I definetly screen my calls. I don't remember the last time I answered a private number.

Totally understand. But you'd hope that ppl understand you're busy.
P.S. Nice name change. Had to look twice.

I have actually formulated a way to read BBMs without people know that you read their message. What you can do is go to your settings and make sure that your BBM is set to save message history. Next time you want to read their messages, don't open the conversation but press the Menu button on the contact and click view message history. You can see what they have written without opening the conversation.

    Good method.

You can also set your BBM to show 2 lines when someone messages you can see a preview, if you don't want to answer it just hit hover the persons message and delete it.
