I'm getting an Android but I still want to use BlackBerry Messenger. If Sprint deactivates my 8530, can I still use BlackBerry Messenger over my Wi-Fi?

The only time you can use BIS services over wifi is when you have BIS enabled. Your pin will need to be active and registered on RIM's servers and with a company. At that point, you could. If Sprint deactivates your phone, it won't be able to be used.

I've heard of cases where something went wrong with deactivation though. Some guy claimed that he was able to use his BB features for months over wifi after he canceled because of bad communication between his service provider and RIM. That could have been a load of bull though.

wouldn't it be sweet if RIM made BBM for other devices like i-phone palm etc.. etc.. but i guess that would take away some of the exclusive blackberry features(the few that there are) that make you want a blackberry.... just wishfull thinking....
