Is anyone successfully using BBM on an unlocked 9930 on the tmobile network?
I;ve tried everything but my edge stays lowercase. I spent 9hours on the phone with both RIM and t-mobile but they couldnt help me. bbsak and crackutil dont seem to work with os7 so cant do the generic tmobile service book guides. I installed them as a regular restore and have some service books. but cant set up email and BBM

    any help is welcome

T-Mobile offers GSM service in both the 850 and 1900 MHz frequency bands.
    BB9900 - GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900

Verizon's network employs CDMA technology in both the cellular (850 MHz) and PCS (1900 MHz)
    BB 9930 - CDMA 850 / 1900.

I am not sure if the 9930 which is a CDMA phone will work with T-Mobile network, which is GSM. They use primarly 2 different methods for their phones.

9930 is a world pgone that will work on GSM networks. I am aware I will not get 3G speeds. only EDGE.
I just want my BBM to work.
Is there any way I can transfer service books from a tmobile 9900 to a 9930

I assume you have a data plan with BIS?

Have you check the tcp settings in options-device-advanced-tcp ?? Does it still have the original carrier's settings?

Damn!! I bought my Brand New-Blackberry Bold 9930 on ebay for $300. I unlocked it, and start using with AT&T inserting the SIM Card. However, my blackberry only gets EDGE crap, and It is even 4G capable!!!!! S*****!

NowI gotta sell it, and buy a Rogers 9900 wich is totally unlockable for GSM 3G use, and some others 9900 for 4G! But the price rises up to no less than $400..

ROGERS, BELL, VIRGIN, SAKTEL, & TELUS are all compatible with 4G.

I was told by a tech at RIM that the Verizon 9930 is programmed to only provision to Verizon BIS in the United States. So even though it has the GSM and edge bands it will only work outside of the United States. I can confirm that everything I tried including using the Tmobile service books from the Storm tutorial did not work in the United States and when I tried the phone overseas just popping in a sim card with BIS from the local carrier gave me uppercase EDGE.

yea i had tried using a verizon phone before with a gsm sim but it just does not work the same. You cannot use data while you are on the phone either. Its always better just to spend the extra money and get the phone with the correct network. It just sucks how the phones are so expensive when you dont qualify for an upgrade.
