I don't seem to have the Barcode in my BBM. In BBM I click "Add a Contact", and there is nothing about a barcode option. Also looked under 'Edit My Info' and 'Options'

I assume I'm overlooking something easy......

It's only in version 5+. Are you running the latest version?

If you are running the latest version of BBM, you should be able to click invite contact and then have 2 options: enter a person's email address, PIN, or name; and scan a person's barcode. The latest version of BBM is 5.0.0.33.

    I have version 5.0.0.33

At least I assume I do....if I download BBM 5.0.0.33 off App World, it says 5.0.0.33 already exists and asks if I want to replace it.

They have to show it. If you are with them, they can open their profile and scroll down to display my barcode. Then you scan it.

To post your barcode on CrackBerry.com, you have to take a screenshot of your barcode, send it to your PC, open it in Paint, and change the file to JPEG format, save it and then post it.

Well I had 4.7 archived...whatever exactly that means. Restored that, then upgraded back to 5.0.0.33 and now I have the barcode.

Not really sure what the problem was....

not true. if you press the menu button when displaying your barcode, you can save it as a PNG directly.

    Yes mine did too!

I guess we have earlier built devices because on the box, it says my 9700 was built in June 2009.

Maybe it was fixed. When BBM 5.0 first came out, people on CB who posted their barcodes in PNG said other people couldn't scan them. Changing them to JPG allowed the barcodes to be scanned off the computer screen.

Never mind my previous question...Under My Profile, in the My Barcode section, select the "Display My Barcode" button.
