Thanks, I am so excited to get it. Ugh that sucks, lol. Do you think on the 15 dollar data plan it could make it through the month?

If you are on Verizon, it is easy to monitor data usage with the MY Verizon app. I'm on an unlimited data plan, so I really don't pay much attention to usage. BBM is awesome though.

Great, thanks for the advice. Any other advice you could give me? I'll have to convince my parents to upgrade me. Oh how it sucks to be a college student with no money

I remember the days... Best advice I can offer is come here to CB for all your BB needs. Any question you have can be answered by someone here...

What carrier are you using? Verizon? Sprint?

Yup, one more semester left after this spring. Verizon! Do you have the Bold?

Verizon...good. You can download the MYVerizon app for free and monitor your usage right on your phone. Yes I'm using a Bold, but I loaded Sprint's recent OS6 release.

If you do a lot of video or audio streaming, or have a lot of push apps that you leave oactive all the time (news push, Facebook, for example) I expect you'll be fine with the $15 plan. Each BBM message uses only a tiny amount of data. Download the app mentioned above and use it for a couple months to gauge your usage. Welcome to CrackBerry!

but besides going to OPTIONS > DEVICE > DEVICE & STATUS > MENU > DATABASE SIZE

is there another way to see or monitor data usage. just out of curiosity?

I just got my blackberry! I love it so much! I have a quick question which again might make me look very stupid but here it goes. If you connect your BB to the wifi in your own home does that count as data still or because you are on WIFI its free?

As far as I know, Wi-Fi does NOT count toward your cell data usage. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok, so if I turn on my wifi in my house I should be able to use the browser and apps all I want and it won't count towards my data?

Yes, but I would turn-off the cell connection while you do that...just to make sure it is the Wi-Fi connection being used.
