Just thought you should know. I expect I've missed a topic already on this.

Just scan any QR code, they usually send you to a website.

There's probably one on your nearest Coke bottle.

    edit, try this

That's what it does. Opens a URL.

Pretty cool, and oddly timed, I was looking for a QR reader a few days ago!
Shame they can't make a standalone link to the app, rather than having to go through the BBM menus, maybe it will show up in OS 5.0!

That is sweet. Now i want a barcode scanning and lookup app for the blackberry like android/iphone. Ok wow while typing this just for kicks I tried a normal barcode. My storm rebooted when it hit the normal barcode.

The band Pet Shop Boys did an anti-ID card song called Integral. They used QR codes in the video so people could link through to articles and websites about ID cards see:

Edit: quality on that video might not be the greatest to actually try and scan, but you get the idea of one of its uses.

I dont think the code reader in BB Messenger is a universal barcode reader. A few months ago I was looking for one and I came across this, it works in most BB's

    NeoReader: Blackberry

Here is a QR generator link, I wish BB Messenger would let you add all info that you wanted to.

    Works for me....

Tried a URL, a business card and long text.

    These three worked for me.

Oh that's a short text, having trouble with the megalarge QRs due to the low quality of the BB camera.

Well yeah, those are all QR codes, I talking about all barcodes like UPC, Data Matrix, EAN, Aztec Code, etc. NeoReader is a seperate app that reads all those and then some. I tried with BB messenger and it wont even do UPC.

I did just say 'all QR codes' not all barcodes!
Although it would be cool it they bought out a barcode reader app like they have on some other phones. Very useful.

This one is better, you have a greater range of info that you can add to the QR Code.

The new OFFICIAL BBM 5.0 no longer supports these things...why, I have no idea..I am currently trying to figure it out myself. Over in http://forums.crackberry.com/f152/si...m5-0-a-336400/.
