Seems to me with OS 5.0.230 there really is no need for BBM?
Don't know why you'd say that. BBM is a great application for communicating with other BlackBerry users you know. It usually has better delivery times than SMS (assuming BIS is up and running) and gives you instant feedback on whether your messages were delivered or read and when the person you are conversing with is responding.

I lost about 4mb, but who care if I'm at 36 instead of 40? It is still the same phone working the same way. As for the S2? So I'll have 136 instead of 36. STILL THE SAME EXPERIENCE

i remember the days of 4.7.0.xx when an app like this would be the only app on your phone, and you would have about 15 mb free.

I'm running 4.7.0.167. My app memory went from ~12bm to ~17mb by replacing the leaked BBM to this official one (yes it increased). I would upgrade to OS v5, but BerryBuzz reportedly doesn't work on .230. That's a dealbreaker for me. I know it works on earlier versions, but I'm not willing to sacrifice my camera either.

I would go back to .151, but the freezing while typing was infuriating. I'll live with my low free memory if it means everything is working.

EDIT: Just got BerryBuzz update notice:

    Developer Message:

    - Fixed compatibility with the official BBM 5.0 on all OS versions
    - Fixed compatiblity with OS 5.0 (Audible reminders will not work on 5.0.0.2xx versions as there seems to be a bug that prevents 3rd party apps from adding items to the profiles).

I went from BBM v4.7 running OS 4.7.167 to BBM v5.0.33 ... immediately removed AppWorld after installing BBM5.0. Now boot up with about 2.4mb less than before (not surprising, the app is 2.8mb, don't recall how big 4.7 was) but it is stable unless I have a couple of BB Messenger chats going on over a period of time. Then it appears to leak a bit. If it is not in use it doesn't seem to be an issue.

Mine dropped about 4mb as well but my problem is memory leaking!
Before I installed bbm5 (and I'm running .230) my memory would be at a stable 33-36 all day, for a couple of days. Now, after 4-5 hours of phone usage, my memory dropped to 24!!! When I restart my phone, my memory is at 36!

I dropped from around 40 to 33.8 tops with BBM and Snaptu on .230 hybrid. Thank god others have had it too. I was about to do some research.

seemed to me that with .230 and BBM5 if you don't close the chats, it lags...if you have more than like 8 or 10, it'll slow down...idk why, maybe the actual chats are "bigger" than they were before?

I think part of the problem is that we should be deleting the original BBM, do a battery pull, then install the new BBM from the BlackBerry mobile site (not App World). By installing one over the other, my guess is that it just isn't as clean as doing it seperately. As I mentioned before, loading it clean on my phone was fine. My memory was only ~0.5MB lower, which is likely the difference in the size of the application. The original install caused my memory to drop by 6MB. Just a thought anyhow.

Can I have the leaked BBM 5.0.8 back please?!?!? It was way better... Proximity alerts, location sharing, great on app memory (never had a problem) Anyone have a download link for it????

location sharing is still there...app memory isn't an issue, it's just a coincidence...

and i've never once used or needed proximity alerts...ever...

Where is location sharing in the new BBM? I had it on the leaked, but not on the new one.

    BBM>MY PROFILE>LOCATION:"SHOW MY LOCATION/TIMEZONE INFORMATION"

the thing that's been removed was the proximity notification...which is ******** anyway...

When I try to send location, it says "Unable to retrieve current location."
Has ever since I downloaded new BBM.
