I just got my new Bold 9700 from AT&T.

Is it possible to unlock the BB Map application? I know it is installed because I can see it when I view the installed apps in my Advanced Settings.

I do not have a BB Map icon. AT&T wants to buy you the Navigator for 10 bucks a month. I like to use what came with the Bold anyways.

Also, does anybody have any experience with 3rd party browsers like Opera, etc.

    Thanks for your help!

I can highly recommend Opera Mini, as I used it for quite a while on my old 8820. I've since installed it on my 9700 and it works just fine. Also, there's a new beta of Opera Mini 5.0 that you might want to try out too.

I'll also vouch for the link BekNazar posted for BlackBerry Maps

Thanks for the advice. I tried to install the map launcher from my PC using the BB desktop software. That did not work.

When I use my BB 9700 and try to go to ww.gln.bz/ I get an error message.

How do I get the map launcher on my 9700?

    Thanks.

Another poster wrote this on a different thread...might be worth a try

"Set yourself up as a contact in bb messenger, then "Send Location" to yourself. When you receive it, open it and bb maps will be functional."

    Forgot to ask:

I would not mind paying for the QuickLaunch app, however, how will it unlock the installed BB Maps?

    j883376,

thanks so much. The link: http://www.gln.bz/ads.nsf/bbmapslaunch.jad worked perfectly. I downloaded it directly on my BB. Maps are up and running.

The last thing I have to get working now is YouTube and I will be a happy camper.

    Hi!

    Thank you so much!
I also download it on my BB9700.
Amazingly, I am now able to launch BB map.

BUT when I launch BB map, I can't see the map, and the background is shaded.

    Any clue?
How can I make it display the map?

    Many thanks!

    @71_340-
I have Quicklaunch and the BBM shortcut. So, either one will work for you as previously stated by others on here.

I've used OperaMini and BOLT. To me it's a personal preference.

Been around all the forums...lots of suggestions. Even did the delete email accounts, service books, install Maps and WLM, though this never appeared on my desktop manager and when I went to Blackberry to install the Maps it said my device is not compatible. 9700, common'! It's an AT&T thing for sure and other service providers as well. Maps was always on my device, just no icon like so many other users. Anyway your program is the easiest and best solution that will stay with the phone even if I update the OS down the line.
Thanks so much for your effort. Works like a charm!

    Happy New Year!
