    Hi,

I have a Bold and 8900 on AT&T and BB Maps is hidden on both.
Both are running a 5.0 beta.
So I finally made a little program that only launches BB Maps....
    Anyone else miss BB Maps?
Here is the OTA if you want to try it. Let me know if it works for you and if so I'll put it in the app store as well.

    Cheers,
    Todd

    Thank you so much!

    Hi!
    Thank you so much!
I also download it on my BB9700.
Amazingly, I am now able to launch BB map.

BUT when I launch BB map, I can't see the map, and the background is shaded.

It seems as if I cannot access the map data.

    Any clue?
How can I make it display the map?

    Many thanks!

I can get the bb maps icon and the application works fine on my 9700.

However, it seems that AT&T also blocks geotagging of photos eventhough getagging is enabled in the camera app. I have been told that geotagging uses blackberry maps and eventhough it launches the geotagging still does not.

    Any help would be appreciated.

download the lds ribbon file from the blackberry mobile site. it works under AT&T now so you dont need to use a launcher. you should be able to display geotagged pictures in the maps application after that. getting a gps lock seems to take a while so you have to wait until its locked for it to geotag the image.

Initially when I had upgraded from AT&T's latest Curve 8900 OS (4.6.1.something) to OS 5.0.0.348, I had used this BB Maps Launcher because (like I mentioned on the first page) the BlackBerry Maps download page had said my device wasn't currently supported. Very disappointing being that I was able to download the "lbs_ribbon" module and the BB Maps icon would show up and I could use BlackBerry Maps on OS 4.6.1.xxx!

I've since upgraded my 8900 to OS 5.0.0.411 and am again able to download the BlackBerry Maps "lbs_ribbon" module! The icon shows up and I can use BB Maps like normal!! So, I dunno if OS 5.0 support for BB Maps is available for all devices now but it's working great for me!!

    Hello

I am new to this blackberry world and so please forgive me for asking what is a trivial question. I click on the link in this posting and it asks me for either the application to open the file or to save it. If I want the file sent OTA ( I now know what this means) how do I do it? I have not yet set up email yet on this device.

    Thanks in advance.

Ok, I'm having some difficulty getting this to work.

I saved the file to my 9700 and tried running it (using the download button). After a few seconds, it says download failed. When I go to details, it says 907 invalid COD file not found.

I'm totally new to Blackberry's, this is my first one. Need some help! Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm a dork. I used the browser to go to the site and it seemed to work. Thanks!

Thank you so much! This is great! Question: I have a Bold 9700 with AT&T, unlimited data plan, etc.. Should I expect any weird charges from AT&T for using the GPS with BBMaps?

    Thanks again for doing this!
