Will Google Maps Work Seamlessly on 10.3.1?

Probably not. As it has always been stated, Google Services are not going to be fully compatible with the Android Runtime on BlackBerry 10. Sure, you can get Google Maps 'mostly' working but there will inherently always still be some issues because it's simply not supported.

It s working fine on Passport. Fast loading, nearly no lag. Vocal search and streetview works. Fast GPS / wifi.

Yeah the thing you will not get is anything having to do with being logged in. That's pretty much the only issue I can find.

I find the BlackBerry maps to be okay, google maps are better but BlackBerry maps get the job done. What's missing on BlackBerry maps is POI on screen and a better traffic color signature. But.... BlackBerry maps still gets me to where I want to go so it's all good. Some improvements and BlackBerry maps can be equal if not better than Googles flavor.

Blackberry maps is getting sooooo much better than when it started.

Question for all, what bar version are people using for Google maps.

    I have Google maps 7.0.2.

Just wondering if that's still the latest and greatest.

Version 9.0 is the newest, and it appears to work on 10.3. Not so sure it's as smooth as previous versions though.

I'm using an older version of Google Maps and I don't see what it is not doing. It's working perfectly to include voice navigation, even over Bluetooth when paired. Just used it again today.

Google maps has always worked, it just won't let you log in without some tricks that can be found on the forums.

If you just want to use it, navigation with voice works great!

I tried looking around but it seems a little tougher to get bar files.

Anyone happen to have version 8 or 9 of Google Maps in bar format??

I figured this would be the best place to ask.

Why would you need a bar? You can install the apk directly.

To be honest, I haven't gotten into using Snap, Amazon or the like.

I guess I'm stubborn and prefer the idea of a clean install.

I was hoping someone might have one handy. But I guess I'm going to have to sit down and read how now.

Installing via a bar file or an apk makes no difference. The bar file was just a more "governed" container for an apk. Once you take an "ungoverned" apk, then create a signed bar file for it, you've pretty much defeated the purpose of a bar file lol.

In conclusion: don't let your ocd get the best of you . It's effevtively the same thing (and snap is actually safer than a bar file-- I could have made said bar file with a dangerous apk not sourced directly from Google).
