I'm getting Google Play Services coming up when I try to activate several of my android apps. What's up with that I'm using Z30 with all the current updates.

BlackBerry does not support Google Play Services, and has a Runtime stuck on Jellybean (Android v4.3). It is what it is.

Cobalt has devised an ingenious workaround that provides some relief. Look here:

Some Android apps now "say" they require Google Play Services in order to operate correctly. While you can't necessarily install Google Play Services directly, you can use a workaround to patch that requirement. See the directions here:

I've also found that simply tapping OK on the notice that pops up (sometimes multiple times) will still allow the application to work without having to patch it. It's worth a try to see if that works for you.

Cobalt's method allows Google Play Services to actually work.

Subsequent patching of 3rd party apps remove what Cobalt refers to as the "sanity checks" that those apps perform to verify that everything (signatures, framework features, version codes, etc) is set up and working according to hoyle. Some of these checks, unfortunately, are buried so deeply that they simply can't be removed by patching - causing the app to crash or not start.

Of course, more and more apps are requiring KitKat and above, so, in this context, the Google Play Services issue is moot.
