Ok. Which version of Viber are you presently attempting? That may help tune in to the problem.

This is a version that works on Passport:

If that's a version you're attempting then completely delete the app, turn off your network connections (network and wifi) and reboot your device. Restore your network connections, reinstall Viber and try again. With any luck it should be operating.

Do you have 3rd party app installation enabled on your device?


Settings... app manager... installing apps. Make sure allow apps from other sources to be installed is toggled on.

Hi, yes I have that checked on that earlier. I have other google apps like instagram and youtube installed from this forum link and also have cobalt playstore. It's just viber, skype, allo, duo I couldn't so far. Whatsapp am using the version from blackberry world

I just checked again. The error says unable to open file. May be the file got damaged. Can you share me any other links for the same version

The file is fine. Go to the file manager on your passport... tap downloads (assuming that's where your files end up)... long press the viber apk... when the menu appears tap properties... tap the edit (pencil)... change name to com.viber.apk. It should then open as expected. If you change the name from the "Rename" option in the menu of the long press you'll likely run into the same problem for whatever reason.

If you're wondering, I downloaded the exact file from the link above just now and it didn't open for me either; that is, until I made the changes described above.

BTW, should you continue to receive the "error" message following installation of the above apk then contact Viber through their support ticket and they'll straighten it out on their end for you.

Hi thanks for your lead. I did followed your instructions for the renaming and it worked like you said.

During installation the error still shows so I used your link for the viber support ticket. They send me a code for my passport too but unfortunately I can't get to the page where we get the opportunity to insert the code.

Should I try for another viber version. Or is my 10.3.2 version an issue. It's surprising, as I mentioned you I have my instagram, Facebook messenger google maps and you tube (patched version of course)and also some applications from Google play working just fine.

Just cant make the viber and Skype working.

So after my area code when input my no and press continue, the error shows up.

I have everything set up now nicely else would have gone for a factory reset.

Well, we're nearing the end of my suggestions lol beyond a wipe. I'm not sure why it's not functioning on your device. Are you certain the previous Viber is deleted from your device before the reinstall? Hopefully someone else may offer some insight. Seems as though Viber used to have issue with previous registrations and BB10 installs but I'm not sure this is related.

I have Skype 6.1.0.16424 functioning on a Z30. It should run on Passport as well.

Or, this Skype version is reported to function well on the Passport: 6.15.0.1162

I'd recommend giving either a shot and see which is better suited to your needs.

From your link but did change file name and tried then it works. Even though I am newbie to BB passport.
