Well I updated to the latest 10.2 leak last night and I did a full backup and restore. My side loads weren't installed so I loaded back candy crush and my progress of level 165 is gone.

I didn't have it connected to my Facebook account. Is there any way of restoring my progress or do I have to start all over again

Unfortunately you will have to start over again. Similar sitiation happened to my wife.

Damn!!! Is there a way to backup side loaded apps for the future. Other games and things so this doesn't happen again?

I know from some who play it on Android that if they switch to a new Android phone and log back in all progress is lost as well. The only place I see it "saved" in a sense is on Facebook.

If u do ur backup before u install the leak, sideload ur android apps BEFORE doing ur restore, it should put ur progress back in. It worked for my Flick Home Run game.

The best way to save your progress is through Facebook. Just sign in to Facebook in Candy crush, that's all. Backup and restore can be unreliable sometimes.
