Do you think this could possibly be blocked in an update (like 10.2)?

I'm going to say thanks to the OP for this!

I'm also going to say everyone else, STOP asking for converted apps, this method will only allow for them to run on YOUR own phone, as the debug token is only for YOUR device. Anything converted will NOT work on another device.

Hope that clears things up, also if this is all a little above your head... take the time to read all the links posted. Then have a go at it. Remember that this will work for most but not all android apps.

There, I said it and feel a lot better for it.

No you have to wait for 10.2

    10.1 only supports Android 2.3.3

Sorry I wish I can but the thing is that it is pin dependent

Yes you must install the debugtoken.bar on your device too.

Sounds like that sopcast app should be working.

I would really love to have Sopcast working.. Been using Splashtop to view Sopcast from my PC which is a waste of electricity :P

Considering there is a clear failure to understand here by some users, let's set some guidelines. Please, do read and pay attention:

    • DO NOT - Ask for .BAR files. It's pointless. The apps generated using this method are bound to the device of those that created them using their debug token. e.g. Even if I gave you a .bar file, it WILL NOT WORK because you do not have my debug token.
    • DO NOT - Ask for paid Android app .apk files from Google Play. If you want to use the app but need the file, too bad. Go pick up a cheap Android device and support the dev by purchasing the app. Seriously, you can find Android devices for like $20 that will suit these purposes fine.

Will this method improve sideloading to PlayBooks as well? Or is it specifically for BB10 devices?

@Bla1ze the form for token still won't recognize my PIN so I'd be tempted to ask / pay for two apps for my speicic token / pin

I download the files and installed android 2.3.3 sdk, and sign for token and got email but now I don't know how and what to do next.
according to the instruction i need to:
At a command prompt, navigate to one of the following folders:
dependencies\tools\bin in BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK
blackberry-tablet-sdk\bin in BlackBerry WebWorks SDK for BlackBerry Tablet OS
Create a debug token for your device by using the following syntax and values for the command line options:
    blackberry-debugtokenrequest -storepass <KeystorePassword>
    -devicepin <device PIN> <debug_token_file_name.bar>

but i dont know how to do it, can anyone explain
