Doesn't have a BB10 app, tries to shutdown third party apps and in the latest version of Snapchat blocks the Android version from working on BB10 by refusing to let you use the app if you don't have GSF.

When you hit login, nothing happens other than the GSF popup coming back up. Closing it and hitting login doesn't do anything.

It never did this before in old versions.

What a scummy company. Doesn't give us a native app, tries to shutdown third party apps and blocks the sideloaded one from working.

lmao...they arent trying to block you. They are just using google services to make the app better. It just happens to also block bb10 out as well

Also, it's for security purposes. I'd suggest you think stop thinking everyone is against BlackBerry when in fact, very little developers are even paying attention to them

Have you tried patching it using cobalt's tools? Should at least get rid of the Google play services nag screen.

So don't use a car because it could break anytime...

Cause we love the product and friends want to share things with us. There is nothing to replace this service.

Then don't call them scummy when they aren't. Think they really went to using Google services just to spite bb users? Nope.

Their API and core service was not designed for 3rd party access. Everyone who signed up for their service agreed to use it the way Snapchat intends. Can we say users are "scummy" if they sign up for a company's service and then break the rules to make it work in a way that wasn't intended?

If someone wants to build a similar service with different terms, then you can set up an AWS account and have at it, right?

They use Google services for things like notifications, etc, because that's generally the smart thing to do if you're building an Android app. Whoever made that decision at snapchat likely doesn't even remember that BlackBerry still exists!

I did a google search for Snapchat as I never have used it myself and most of the trending posts about it are all the security and privacy issues Snapchat has due to hackers altering the Snapchat binary or using an emulator to bypass privacy restrictions. Which resulted in a complaint to the FTC and, on May 7, 2014, Snapchat settled with the Federal Trade Commission over allegations it deceived users over the amount of personal data it collected and was responsible for a security breach impacted 4.6 million customers. That is why its blocking third party apps.

Tap outside anywhere outside the pop up, the app works.

They forbid the use of third party clients and their private API in their terms of service, if you don't agree then don't use their service, nobody's forcing you.

More like use it until it breaks and don't expect anything at all because you had no warranty, which sounds extremely reasonable.

I know very few "grown ups" that use snap2chat. Facebook and Instagram are for keeping in touch and / or promotions (Like BBM and BBM Channels). Not saying that BlackBerry users are strictly business but there's so many uses for these handheld devices. Why get stuck on social media!?!

    Just sayin...
