the problem with bluestacks is that is runs on android 2.3.

Therefore, some apps that run on 4.0+ will not be available.
I know. There are other emulators, but I haven't checked any out yet.

Bluestacks was only needed to run the program called Device ID. Doing that generated a GSF ID, which is what is needed to run Snap. After that, I uninstalled Bluestacks as I don't need to run Android apps on my PC.

Yep. A ton of apps have newer versions that run better than the 2.3 ones too.

Yeah, but now that device ID is associated with a 2.2 device so you will only get 2.2 compatible versions of applications.
That's the way the cookie crumbles...

The developer said that this means your Device ID is wrong (he'll add better error-handling in an update). Where did you get the device ID from?

In Bluestacks, download an application from the Google Play Store called Device ID. You'll have to sign in with your Google account.

Anyone else having trouble downloading BBM? It sticks at preparing download. I can download other apps no problem.
I'm leaning towards it being my bluestacks device ID being android 2.3 but wonder why it's showing in the search..

I followed the instructions to install the app that let's you create a device and then get the ID that way.

Facebook downloaded fine. Starbucks and Instagram hang at preparing download.

Just to sum up for people who don't know about this well. If you don't have an android device, you will need to run an emulator. The ID being asked for will only work if your google login (email address) is associated with an android device ID. If you have access to an android device, that's one way, if you own one that's the best. The only resort after that is software emulation and logging in through there to make the association. People trying to load play services and login services, there are multiple frameworks besides the obvious apk's you need, and they have to be edited to run. it's not impossible, but it's not anywhere near simple either. Paid apps will look for these frameworks to verify your account has actually purchased the app.
Which emulator do you recommend me to download? Time to do some homework and get set an account for myself.

I just got bluestacks, it seems to work well but no idea where the files are being saved in my computer to transfer over to my z30.

So how do we get the latest android run time associated with our device id since BlueStacks wont? I already have device id from BlueStacks that I used with chrome extension apk downloader. How do I create a device id for higher runtime apps?

Edit: I guess for now it's genymotion way huh. Still at work though..
